Rooting For Acer's Boss @ Cardiff Triathlon 2017

Nick Cranston Finishes 34th
  • Swim 1.5km
  • Cycle 40km
  • Run 10km

At 6.15am on a Sunday morning most people aren’t checking into a Cardiff Bay triathlon for a 1500m open-water swim; a 40km bike ride and a 10km run …but Acer’s MD, Nick Cranston is!

With two slices of toast and apricot jam, followed by a road trip in the Acer Tree Surgeons land-rover, from Wiltshire across the Severn Bridge, Nick stretched on his wet-suit, swimming cap and goggles and dunked himself into the murky Cardiff Bay seawater and – with hundreds of other triathletes – awaited the hooter for the ‘off’!

After the best part of a mile contending with choppy water, opponents’ jabbing elbows and slapping feet in low visibility of a dank and drizzly dawn, Nick emerged from the depths well-positioned in the first 40 or 50 and mounted his space-aged bicycle steed, amassing 40km while zipping around the famous landmarks of the Welsh capital in dangerously greasy weather conditions.

After a final transition from two wheels to two running shoes the intrepid Acer boss concluded the race with his favourite event, cantering through the ten kilometers into a slight headwind to finish 6th in his age category and 34th overall (out of 900+ competitors).
