Meet the Team

Nick Cranston

Managing Director

BA (Hons); Tech Arbor A, NC Hort (Arb), IOSH (NEBOSH gen cert)

Nick started the company in 2005 and has worked in the industry for 19 years. Formally an ArmyCaptain, Nick is university degree qualified and has been determined that the company sets the highest standards in customer care as well as exceptional tree work. Whilst Nick undertakes most of our tree reports, he is still relied upon as a climbing arborist, too.

Nick enjoys building long lasting relationships with our customers and much of his time is spent advising people on how to care for their trees over future years. Nick is a role model for all at Acer Tree Surgeons and a great mentor.

In his spare time Nick ‘enjoys’ the challenge of triathlons and extreme events. Last year Nick, Adam and Roy completed the arduous 7-day Marathon des Sables in the Sahara. Nick then followed this up with an Iron Man in Lanzarote. This year he’ll be undertaking two or three half Iron Man triathlons and the epic Badlands gravel ultra race in Sierra Nevada (800km over 16,000m)

Adam Roberts

Executive Director

Arb Association (Pro Member), FDSC Arboriculture, ND Arboriculture, PTI (Professional Tree Inspection)

Adam joined the company in 2010 and has worked in the industry for 16 years. Since joining Acer in 2010 he has worked in all areas of the business, then becoming a partner in 2016 where he has grown our work across the North of Wiltshire, Gloucestershire and along the M4 corridor. Adam is university degree qualified, specific to Arboricultural and has achieved one of the highest membership grades within our industry, obtaining Professional Membership status with the Arboricultural Association in 2016, leaving only Fellow status to be achieved.

As well as an extensive theoretical knowledge of arboriculture in general, Adam takes particular interest in the technical aspects of equipment and has become an industry expert and ambassador for one of the leading manufacturers in the industry.

On the back of completing Marathon Des Sables and being inspired by Nicks sporting adventures and his own love for Scottish Winter Mountaineering, Adam has recently completed the Snowdon Sky Race and Salomon Ring of Steall Sky Race, both being extreme mountain trail races. In 2023, this continues as he takes on the Rab Scafell Sky Race and enters the Ultra Trail Mont Blanc World Series in Verbier, Switzerland in July. Adam is an extremely keen Angler too.
